Runescape is a game that was ruined because it didn’t play to its strengths by sticking to the niche that made it unique in a landscape where WoW dominated the computer game space.
#RUNESCAPE BOT KILLING 2015 FREE#
Between november 2013 to april 2014, you can see the pure number of subscribers after botting had largely been dealt with at the time and bonds had been released before free players were allowed back on the highscores, which was around 500k subs. On April 2014, the highscore tables were opened to free players again, which is why it rose back to 2 million (the cap for HS tables). Random sharp drops prior to mid 2013 are an effort to curb bots through heavy banning and events such as “bot nuke day” On September 2013, Runescape released bonds, which was their solution to RWT by letting bonds buy you membership through in game cash, effectively cutting out the middleman that were bots and gold farmers. In 2011, the highscores table was made members only. The closest ballpark figure comes from the information out of this chart. I am aware that I didnt play the game the first 5 years of its life, but the RS that most people know is the one that came out as RS2 in 2004, and the game was continuing to grow well into early 2007, so much so that it broke its 1 mil sub count that year. It has been in a continuous decline ever since. I have looked around everywhere for tangible evidence, but there is nothing online about its current subscriber counts. I played almost everyday till 2009, stopped playing for about 2 years, then came back and have been playing on and off ever since.
#RUNESCAPE BOT KILLING 2015 HOW TO#
My earliest memory is just standing around with like 5 other players trying to figure out how to make flour out of wheat in the granary you encounter on your way to Draynor Village. I really didnt care for the quests or anything, I just loved walking around Lumbridge with a bunch of other f2p noobs. You guys all remember Neopets playing meerca chase or heli attack 3 on miniclips or pool games on shady websites. Then I discovered Runescape and nothing was the same afterwards. The year was 2005, and like almost every other 12 year old kid in my shoes, I had a family computer which I could use for like 30 min if I finished all my homework.
